What does a Woman want from her Man

A friend of mine, Kathryn L. Hill, said in her comment on my article 'It is a Women's World, We are living in, Today', "For a good marriage, a dominant and a subordinate balance needs to be occurring in some manner", and I agree with her view. Her as well as my view do not mean in any way that it is only the men or women who should dominate the relationship. Any one may lead with other to follow. Of course, for thousands of years, it is the men who have been dominating the scene, the reasons for which I traced in my above-quoted article.

I also derived that the present age is that of women, but even that does not mean that in every marital or love relationship, the women are going to dominate. This domination is of individual nature wherein backgrounds and characteristics of the two in the relationship matter. Here from begins my present discussion on what women really want from their respective men.

Father of a daughter-in-law in our large family was a drunkard and this girl being the eldest of all the siblings was in a dominating position in her parental home. This domination became her characteristic that made her to play a dominating role even after marriage. Her husband resisted her dominance for the first few years of marriage resulting into occasional bitterness between the two. The boy understood this trait of his wife and accepted her dominance. The couple is pulling on happily since then. This type of women form one type for our present discussion.

There are another type of women who want to dominated by their men and they get highly displeased with their respective men if they fail to dominate them. These are the two types of women with respect to mutual domination in a man-woman relationship.

There is yet another way of classifying women that is based on void in their lives. There are women who have been deficient in getting love and respect from others, they either revolt to become free from others, or accept subjugation as their fate. Converse to this, women getting enough of love and respect from others neither revolt not need any freedom. Their need remains enough of love only.

Thus, we have three classes of women - free-minded, subjugate-minded and love-minded. This classification is more relevant to fate of a relationship, so, in this discussion, I would dwell over this. The men must understand this classification for understanding their respective women.

The most distinctive characteristic of a free-minded woman is her nature of self-righteousness without giving even a thought whether she is really right or not. To be frank, such a woman is of non-compromising nature and may not suit all sorts of men.

An uncle of mine, once, asked me to suggest some suitable boy for his daughter for an arranged marriage. I asked him what type of boy he wanted. To this, he freely replied to me that the girl is of free nature and can't adjust with a boy of dominating nature. For her, the boy should be willing to accept her dominance by his nature itself. Though, I could not suggest any boy for her, but her parents found one such boy and the couple is happy.

For a free-minded women who has been revolting against her society, has a threatening and revolting tendency preserved for the whole of her life. Her slogan for the relationship remains, "Love me or leave me", with no compromises in between. For her self-righteousness, she is quite unwilling to make any changes in her attitude. The men must be highly careful in developing a relationship with such a women not to get the worst kind of disappointment of his life.

Such a woman does not even bother for how much she is being loved by her man as she does not understand the language of love, affection or respect. She would be happy even if she is not loved if the man keep on following her dictum - right or wrong. Man of such a woman often look for getting love elsewhere which he does not get from her.

This type of women suits all types of men as she adjusts herself to all the requirements of her circumstances. She is never-complaining and expects her man to issue instructions to her for compliance. Even if she is not instructed, she asks for it. It is natural for the man to be happy with her, love her and take care of her in every respect without her asking for anything for herself.

A great majority of women of traditional families from India fall in this category, as they are taught by their parents and society since their childhood that they are meant to be subjugate to their men and they happily accept it as their lifestyle.

Highly loved, respected and satisfied women fall in this category needing enough of love even under miserable economic conditions. These are the ideal women for respectable men as their equal partners of life. They exchange love between them without any consideration of domination by any. The woman is willing to accept even the domination provided she is loved.

Love, for such a woman, does not mean just a sexual gratification but an emotional fulfillment which she provides back in the same coin. She understands life as an opportunity to enjoy company of a loving man. She normally keeps a good health and contentment on her face.

If such a woman is not provided with her expected love, she revolts to find love from someone else, as the only requirement of her life. A man will be a big fool to lose such a loving woman.

Yes, friends, there is not a single reply to what your women want from you. It depends on their respective backgrounds and mental orientations. Know your paramour well in advance before entering into a relationship and find out from yourself whether you can adjust to her needs and temperament without expecting any change in her attitude. She will remain what she is made by her background circumstances.

You must feel yourself fortunate if you came across a woman of the third category above as your life partner. I must mention here that woman of this type are impossible to be found in later years of life as they stick to their life-long bonds of love.
