The Wish of the Last Breath

By rambansal

The last Sunday had been a marvelous day for me listening to songs from young budding artists for selecting them for a forthcoming competition in vocal music. That experienced aroused an old passion in me for writing a love song, while travelling in a public bus today. The song is written in Hindi, which I am trying to translate here.

A lover loses his beloved. How he remembers her wandering through his memory lanes, and makes his last request to her, is expressed in this poetic composition. To be true, I am new to English poetry, but have tried my hand in Hindi love songs long long ago.

O, my beloved, where are you lost,

Have not called me for long!!

I am wandering in craze for you,

Finding no support from you.

One day, the life was so beautiful,

My life was just a song,

Gardens used to blossom listening to my songs,

With music of your breathes.

Now, without music, no garden blossoms,

And there is no song!

O, my beloved, where are you lost,

Have not called me for long!!

Don't you remember -

When you used to keep me in your eyes,

Every moment was beautiful,

With you living in my songs.

Now, stars have adopted you,

For me, no life without a song!

O, my beloved, where are you lost,

Have not called me for long!!

My tears streaming like waterfalls,

With the whole life flowing out of me.

Please stop it if you can,

It's becoming intolerable to me,

A request from my last breath -

Let your face be without a song!

O, my beloved, where are you lost,

Have not called me for long!!
