Menopause-related problems are related to Western Culture
73
Last night, I remained engrossed with menopause related problems of women for writing some snippets for which I had to research a lot on the subject through visiting a number of websites. I found western commercial interests have blown over this problem beyond imaginations and made their women to feel that they should expect a big problem while under menopause.
Two things come to my mind while writing this piece. About a month back, an online friend from USA posted on facebook a modified picture of Monalisa with the caption – ‘MONALISA, After staying for a week in USA’. Modification in the picture was big exposed breasts of the lady. Osho Raneesh, a world famous spiritualist from India who once shook the world’s business tycoons has said that America is place of commercial people and they understand only commercial language. Both these observations, in-spite of their over-stretched imaginations, are representative of minds of American women and men, respectively. Whatever is true for America, the same is applicable to the whole western world including Europe, Australia and even westernized societies all over the globe.
While western women are over-conscious about display of their sexuality and maintaining it up to their last breathes, their male counterparts leave no stone unturned in making commercial gains out of the said female psychology. From these two sources emanates the problems western women face during menopause.
P.S. : Responding to this article, a friend from USA has sent me a picture of Indian version of Mona Lisa, which I am pleased to post here.

The Psychology
I live in India and being involved in social engineering, closely interact with many senior women and know much about their personal problems but have never heard of menopause-related problems except a few having back-aches. A majority of Indian women don’t even take notice of menopause considering it as a natural process of their maturity. Those living in rural India have to work hard that makes them robust enough to bear minor problems in strides of their routine life.
While researching on the issue on the Internet, I found many websites doing a roaring business through discussing and advising on menopause-related problems and some drugs developed particularly for curing such problems. Apart from some instances of back-ache and obesity, the major problem indicated is that of mood-swing during menopause days which are indicated to vary from 75 to 100 days, generally. Unanticipated irritated behavior with even dear ones, feeling of loneliness even in the sweetest company, etc are stated to be common problems. Consultants as well as drug manufacturers are almost unanimous on the major issue being psychological rather than being physiological.
The Artificiality of the Problem
I too look at the problems arising from sexuality of the women and commercial interests of the business world. Women see in menopause a great danger to their sexy looks and hence an end to their sexual pleasures. This makes them to worry even at the thought of menopause, and hence the psychological problems they realize. In this connection, I must inform the readers that many women celebrate their respective menopauses as freedom from possibility of pregnancy at the senior age and hence as an opportunity to have unhindered sexual pleasures after the menopause at least for a few years to come.
Commercial interests exaggerate the problems related to menopause for their own reasons and they even warn of more serious problems if an early solution is not sought. Dryness of vagina and lack of sensuality are often highlighted by the commercial interests which are nothing but age-related unavoidable problems.

First, as a male author this must have been really eye opening. I do believe that I live in a society obsessed with easy solutions. As a native of the Middle East I also know that our own women deal differently with the subject at hand.
Recently after turning 42 however I've noticed oddities in my system that can't be ignored. Prone to chemical depression anyway, the interesting changes have not been easy. For now I simply listen to my body and hibernate when nec even from family and friends: culprits of much agony and hope at the same time.
