Me, variously

Eyes are the most active sensory organs of human-beings, and eyes of all creatures look outside to sense the external world. Even all other four sensory organs take inputs from the external world only, none of these devoted to study the person’s inside.

Does this mean that we are naturally designed to know only our external world and the natural evolution of life and thereafter has provided nothing to look inside? Surely, NOT. To look inside, the Nature has provided an exhaustive network of neurons connecting every cell of our respective bodies to brains to know what goes on inside. This network of neurons is the person’s MIND. Even the sensory organs provide all the information they collect to the brain only. Thus, brain is the central control center of all the processes of knowing – through sensory organs as well as through the mind. So, we have a powerful means of knowing ourselves from even the deepest inside.

Since, these sensory organs keep all of us heavily engrossed with the external world, we find little time to pay attention to our respective minds hence insides. This generally makes us to know more of what is outside of us rather than what goes on our inside.

Inside every person, following principal activities keep on taking place incessantly –

  • Biological actions and reactions to keep us fit,
  • Thoughts to develop us intellectually,
  • Plays of individual characteristics determining conduct of the person.

The subject of knowing the inside, is too exhaustive to be dealt in a single article like this. So, here we study only the above-said third factor that determines external conduct of a person with the objective of improving one’s conduct. All I say here is about myself to exemplify the subject matter of this study.

To know oneself with respect to external conduct, one should know his/her strengths and weakness well to concentrate on the strengths and avoid being driven to zones of personal weaknesses. We all have strengths and weakness.

My Strengths number one : Atheism

If there is any one word that works in the most dominating way throughout my conduct, it is ‘ATHEISM’. Yes, I am an atheist and very proud to be so. I very well understand that this is against norms of my family, society and the majority view of this world. So, I am hated more than I am loved. This general hated against me would have made my being an atheist a weakness, but I call it my strength for its genesis being my direct experiences, studies, researches, and finally, logical reasoning.

Thus, I am a social rebel and each one of us understands that only strong persons can be rebellious. For this reason, I am proud of my atheism, my strength and my rebellious conduct.

  • Understanding and Earning Integrity of Character

Integrity is a precious attribute of a person which means his/her unified stand on an issue. - 8 weeks ago

  • Sorry State of Body Image

Social norms of a good body are highly distorted by advertising media for serving their commercial interests through misguiding people about what real beauty is. - 2 months ago

  • Natural Beauty of Golden Ratio

Golden ratio found in Nature was first observed, researched and written about by Pythagoreans in their quest for beauty and rationality in Nature. - 2 months ago

My Strength number two : Creativity

Throughout my studentship, career and profession, I have been more of creative type rather than a producer (of wealth). This has failed me in producing anything in large quantity, but in good quality. I am happy with both - my monetary poverty and intellectual wealth.

A productive activity is carried out mechanically that extends to its being a function of machines. For this purpose, the performer – a person or a machine, is provided with preset parameters to work within with no freedom. Even the tolerance provided has to be rigidly followed. This way, all produced items of a type are identical within specified tolerances.

A creative activity is carried by Nature or by free human hands with no preset parameters but under principles of disciplinary norms. This causes creation of unique things even under the same type. You see every human-being with unique individuality, every piece of art unique in itself, every human-made mud-pitcher different from all others. This process is slow and unfit for producing en-masses.

As a creator, I am an author, a social innovator, and most importantly a lover of beauty.

My Weaknesses

1. Marketing

All paths of earning money lead to market and I have always failed in this respect. Since I can’t market, I can’t engage myself in some mass-scale production. Since, I am a creator, I left it to natural process to get marketed.

I know this weakness of mine so well that I don’t aspire to earn material wealth for myself, not to get ultimate frustrated, unhappy and hence lose my edge of creativity.

2. Driving

This is intriguing to me even to this day why I don’t like driving a motor vehicle. I only know that I can’t drive well though I had made some attempts at learning this art. I understand that driving is not a mechanical process, hence is a creative act. Every vehicle on the road makes a unique path for itself through the steering of the vehicle. This way, it must have suited me, but never. In this respect, the only thing I do with great pleasure is bicycling.

I agree there is so much to look outside that our sensory organs hardly reflect on our inner self. Most of us yet have to know our strengths and weaknesses cause of the above "problem/distraction"

I seriously was surprised that you are an atheist :) now, can't even say...may the LOrd guide you :)

Hi Ram, another interesting hub.

I must confess, I wasn't at all surprised to know you were an atheist, you are a free thinker, and as such, you could never be tied by doctrines and dogmas.
